One of the first things a person should do when arriving to college is to
find a group of people to hang out with. Preferably, some people who will
make you think, challenge your assumptions, and enrich your soul... as well
as shoot pool and kick back some brewskies.
Believe it or not, there are excellent organizations which promote most of
the above. I joined one called Zeta Psi. It's a fraternity, not a frat.
There's a difference. I've travelled to half the chapters, located in the
United States and Canada, and must brag that the men of Zeta Psi are truly
exceptional on average. While I doubt we are unique in that regard, we are
certainly anything but common as fraternities go.
If you, for whatever reason, want to visit the nearest Zeta Psi house and
rush (apply for membership), you can find a fairly good list of chapters
here. On the off chance you're actually interested in my path through Zeta Psi,
check out Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Zete house (Pi Tau)
and then University of Texas' Zete house (Iota Alpha).
Need an introduction at UT? I'm still in town. Contact me via email and I'd
be happy to show you the ropes. Someone will gladly fess up some philosophy and beer, you can bet on it.
