I was born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, 2004. It was a screwy delivery, because mom had a difficult epidural that ended up being a spinal rather than an IV. So, she'd go paralyzed for an hour at a time, then suddenly feel everything and could move again. The nurse made a mistake and allowed a dose of anasthetic just as she reached full dilation, so mom couldn't push when she needed to. By the time it wore off, I was only seven contractions away from being born. Mom didn't intend to, but ended up having largely natural childbirth, because you can't get drugs so close to delivery. The last dose alone made me sleepier than usual for a couple of days, the doctor said.

But I'm healthy, and mom is recovering quite well. Being a baby is hard work, eating and sleeping all day.
